You Hold The Key

key

we’ve heard it said, “If God seems distant, check your heart location.”

that just doesn’t make sense to me anymore

if God seems far away,

maybe you’ve been following the wrong god

a god conjured up in your mind.

a god who you say is in control

a god who you believe sees all your flaws but loves you… in spite of them

what if you created this god to fulfill your need for good to overcome evil?

what if you discover that Love isn’t anywhere near the battlefield collision of good and evil?

what then?

there is a tangible Source, who is Love

he is as close to you as the breath in your chest

and the blood in your veins

every cell of your being possesses the very essence of Love

always has

Love is the space between the atoms that holds everything together.

Love is.

jesus warned us about looking “out there” for the Christ.

where is this King you seek?

he’s reigning and ruling in His kingdom

within You.

just like He said

what if I told you that your reality was just a dream that you could wake from?

just like that.

SNAP.

you can just open your eyes and wake up to a new perspective, but…

would you?

aren’t you just a tiny bit curious?

if someone who was dreaming in black and white suddenly wakes up to beautiful color all around them,

wouldn’t you want them to wake you up so you could experience it too?

but that’s just it.

you are the only one that has the power to wake yourself

you are the only one keeping you asleep

make no mistake

there will be no god to orchestrate your world to make this happen for you

the power to wake is inside you

it’s your choice

what if…

there is something more real?

remember when you were a child?

remember the wide-eyed dreams you held so dear?

anything was possible–for you had not experienced the heartache that comes
when we forget our origin

for you were never a beggar,

you were never alone,

you were never worthless.

you knew you were special

you knew you carried the answers to every problem deep inside you.

and you were confident in this knowing

but someone older and “wiser”
who had forgotten their roots

told you to be quiet and to stop acting like a “know-it-all.”

and you believed them

there didn’t seem to be a choice

they were bigger and stronger and “the boss.”

they knew what was best

so they said

so you shut down the part of you that dreams

that part of your heart that asks the daring questions “what if…”

then the many adventures you once had all dwindle as you “grow up”

where did they go?

oh, please tell me you haven’t forgotten the field of dreams!

those lush emerald forests

romping barefoot

soft moss between your toes

singing wind-chimes

dancing light

sparkling waterfalls

whispering breezes

all within the universe of your heart

Please tell me you remember!

**********

“…unless you change

become like little children,

you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”

**********

there is so much more outside the looking glass

you think it’s a window,

but really it’s a glass prism.

this translucent ceiling and crystal floor

is carefully constructed out of your grandest fears,

dashed hopes

dead dreams

built by experiences that proved to you that this existence was based more on your senses

and less on your intuition.

you have done a great job making sure all the glass sparkles,

so clean that it seems to disappear

almost forgotten

almost.

but this luminous substance is so very fragile

you feel frail

like you might shatter at any moment

or maybe you already have

and you are holding all the pieces

you’ve had to

broken shards only wound others

super glue

band-aids

quick fixes

it’s not working anymore

you are constantly having to maintain composure so that no one will guess

that despite all your futile attempts at finding abundant life,

you are still miserable,

and suffering

in the deep chasms of your heart

where light seldom shines

but… you were lied to.

unknowingly, of course, but that doesn’t change the truth

they were wrong

you did know that you were born good, not bad like they said

you did know that you began in the mind of Love

you did know…

but somewhere,

somehow

you slipped into the coma of “normal” life

you know the hamster wheel well:

wake up,

go to work,

go home,

go to bed,

wake up,

start all over again.

you’re a old pro

But you know

you weren’t made for a hum drum, predictable life.

you were made for love

and passion

and desire

and adventure

and Love

and excitement

and fun

and even more Love

the mushy kind

the vulnerable kind

the best kind

there is a price to pay… to remember

it costs something to revive that sleeping babe

it ain’t cheap

the price is… letting go

letting go of what?

Love’s rival…fear

those deep ones

fears that are so ingrained in you

they have unknowingly become your identity

it’s scary.

it’s terrifying to let go of parts of you

the areas that you have nurtured, protected, tended, and maybe even coddled

but those fragments are not the real you

how are you to ever know what needs to go?

Love will be your guide

measure everything next to Love

**********

“It’s too hard,”  your brain will tell you

“It will hurt too much,” your ego screams out in agony

but you are not alone

don’t you remember Jesus saying that it would cost you all you had?

did you really believe that He meant material things?

you gave up the wrong thing

you have lost Hope

It’s time to find where you left her

**********

there is a key

a splendidly handsome key that will unlock the prison of fear that has the real you on lock down

you have done every.single.thing. they told you to do

yet you don’t see the happiness that was promised,

nor the unspeakable joy,

or that much needed peace

somehow you are still trying,

trying hard to be something,

someone you already are

the key has a name, you know

forgiveness

learn to keep her close

you will need her on speed dial

she’s the ticket to staying free

forgive and then let.it.go.

at first it will feel like a free fall

scary, yet exhilarating

after a while you realize you aren’t falling

you….are

f  l  y  i  n  g

**********

fear is a weakling

masquerading as strength

love is the strongest force of all

though it confidently parades as meekness

to acquire this key, you will have to look deep inside

inward

do mirror work

every day

go look in a mirror

deep into your eyes

until you look into your very soul

to get to that True Self of yours

keep looking

don’t worry, you’re there alright

might be hard to locate under all those wounds

but the Real you, the True you is there

See?

hold your gaze

now, look at who you are

you  are powerful and strong

you are beautiful

you lack nothing

you are amazing

you are tender

you are courageous

you are enough

Love is who you are!

all that Love is, so are you!

but you knew you would find Him there all along, didn’t you?

oh, maybe not, but

Love is no respecter of persons

Love belongs to everyone

or maybe we belong to Love

explore even deeper

you will find a Oneness

you were never separated from Love

not ever

whether a branch on the Tree,

course bark or an exquisite leaf,

we all share the same root system

bonded together in Love

so

go on

give it a try

it’s that simple

though not easy

it will take courage

you have what it takes

don’t over complicate it

Love is who you are. Period.

Love is.

so

just

be.
